Yule Cat
A figure of Icelandic Christmas Folklore, The Yule Cat is a huge and vicious cat who lurks about the snowy countryside during Christmas time and eats people who have not received any new clothes to wear before Christmas Eve. As an owner (and sometimes captive) of two black cats, I know that our docile, cuddly house cats would leap at the opportunity to be enormous hunters of men! To celebrate the Yule Cat, I created an original design depicting a black cat looming over a snowy cottage, intent on finding prey. Its ears draw back in intense focus as it hunts. Golden eyes gleam like the windows of the cottage - whose inhabitants are cozy and warm, completely unaware of the monstrous cat towering right over their roof.
